BARCS is located on Goodrick Avenue in Richmond. Goodrick Avenue is located off the Richmond Parkway. There is a locked gate at the entrance to the flying field and only members are allowed inside. If you wish to gain access to the flying field for a visit then you must contact one of the BARCS Officers or members of the Board. |
| Directions to the field are as follows: From San Francisco/Oakland - Take Highway 80 and then take Highway 580 which branches off Highway 80 at Golden Gate Fields (on your left). This freeway branches to the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge. From here it is about 5 miles or so to the Castro Street Exit. From Highway 580 take the Castro Street exit and head North-East. Follow it until you get to Goodrick Avenue. There is a traffic signal at the intersection. Turn left on to Goodrick Avenue and follow the road until it becomes a dirt road. This dirt road will lead you to the flying field.

From Sacramento/Vallejo - Take Highway 80 west and then take the Richmond Pkwy exit and head West. Stay on the Pkwy until you get to Goodrick Avenue. There is a traffic signal at the intersection. Turn right on to Goodrick Avenue and follow the road until it becomes a dirt road. This dirt road will lead you to the flying field. Be aware that the Castro Street exit actually becomes the Richmond Parkway so look for the signs that mention Richmond Parkway and Castro Street.

Our club traces its beginnings back to the late '70's when it was known as the Stratosphere Club. We were a mixture of free flight, control line and R/C enthusiasts. In the early '80's we received our AMA charter and in 1992 our IMAA charter. |
| This was our first frequency control and impound area. |

Some early pioneers at BARCS. |
| A major renovation was made of the pit area and frequency impound in 1996. 2 huge shade structures were constructed and the pit area was redone with crushed rock and sealant. The frequency impound was an old bus shelter that was donated by ChevronTexaco Corporation.
