16th Annual BARCStoberfest Results!

We are so excited to announce that the 16th annual BARCStoberfest, presented by Pet Valu, raised an incredible $320,000 for the animals at BARCS!

As you know, this year’s festivities were a little different—but we still found ways to celebrate our favorite parts of BARCStoberfest. We dressed up, we ran, we ate, we drank and, most importantly, we raised money to save lives.

Amidst so much uncertainty in the world, our community came to the rescue—you ensured that the animals in our shelter wouldn’t feel the effects of our lowered fundraising goal for our now virtual event. In a “normal” year, we would have set our fundraising goal much higher to support our animals and the growth of our lifesaving programs. But this year, we lowered the goal because we couldn’t begin to plan or guess what would happen over summer and fall in our community; we wanted to be mindful of how our community was feeling the effects of the ongoing crisis.

But, our incredible supporters came through and gave our animals that gift that they needed, going way above and beyond our goal. As you know, BARCS is not an organization of “extra.” Each year, our shelter cares for 12,000 animals on half of our recommended budget. We’ve been underfunded since day one, and we continue to save lives each day against all financial odds.

A tremendous thank you to all who donated or registered to raise money through a personal or team fundraising page. This year’s BARCStoberfest success belongs to each and every one of you. Thank you to Bill Miller and Miller Value Partners for pledging an emergency matching donation opportunity to save animals in crisis and support our lifesaving mission.

We'd like to recognize our top team and individual fundraisers for their tremendous efforts in making the months leading up to our festival a major success for the animals. Thank you to each and every one of you who donated, raised money and participated in our virtual fundraising activities. You are true lifesavers and we are happy to have you on our side.
