Butter Biscuit's New Beginning

2-year-old Butter Biscuit is destined for bigger and better things. His story was marked by heartbreak—he was abandoned by his people, tied to train tracks, his fate seemingly sealed. But, thankfully, a kind citizen found him and brought him to the sanctuary of BARCS.

It did not take long for Butter Biscuit to become a staff and volunteer favorite. His sweet demeanor, his amazing cuddling skills and his love for all of his dog friends made him the perfect candidate for training in the Ronnie Stanley Foundation.

While in training with Leash Free Living, Butter Biscuit proved to be a fast and willing learner; he was so happy to please the people around him. Butter Biscuit also showed his range of talents when he dazzled his adoring fans during a visit to a local elementary school and rocked the runway at Pawject Runway alongside Ronnie Stanley. Life had big plans for this guy; we all knew this was just the beginning.

Meanwhile, Kim and Rodney were mourning the recent loss of their beloved dog. Their hearts were open to a new family member, but they weren’t sure who would be the best fit. You see, Kim is an elementary school psychologist, and she had been researching the benefits of having a therapeutic animal in her school for students. She read about the Foundation during her research; then she saw Butter Biscuit, and their fate together was sealed.

Butter Biscuit will now spend his days alongside his amazing new mom, helping comfort and soothe her young students as well as teach them about compassion and kindness to animals. This sweet and handsome pup will be making a positive impact on countless children while living his best life; this is the best outcome we could have wanted for Butter Biscuit.

The Ronnie Stanley Foundation was created to improve the quality of life for rescue dogs and individuals in need. The Foundation trains and cultivates the therapeutic properties of rescue dogs to be matched with individuals who have faced various life challenges such as illness, emotional trauma and other hardships. These matches are even more meaningful because rescue dogs are placed in their forever homes.

We are so grateful to Ronnie for creating this wonderful program that supports the human-animal bond and makes it accessible to special families in our community. In addition, this program is proving that shelter animals, even those with heartbreaking histories, can hold these esteemed service roles.
