Buttercup Rae's Happily Ever After

It’s no secret that fostering saves lives, and Buttercup Rae’s story is no exception. After nearly three months of waiting and hoping for her person to pick her, Buttercup Rae finally got her wish: she was adopted into a fabulous, loving home.

This special lady arrived at BARCS in mid-June in need of medical care. She had a large benign mass on her hind end that made it challenging for her to comfortably walk and play. We were hopeful that once the mass was removed, Buttercup Rae would quickly find her home—but sometimes, it takes time for even the sweetest animal to be chosen.

Fostering, even on a short term or overnight basis, can make all the difference in the world for an animal. Buttercup Rae was lucky enough to go on a few “sleepovers” with some of BARCS’ wonderful volunteers. When animals do even overnight stays at a foster home, we ask those fosters to fill out “report cards” to give us more information about how the animal acts in a home setting. Do they like to play and explore, or do they prefer to snooze and snuggle? Buttercup Rae’s report card was filled with notes about how smart, sweet and driven she is.

Soon after her sleepover, a BARCS volunteer shared her report card with a friend who had been asking her about Buttercup Rae. After he read all her great notes, this person knew he needed to make it official—he adopted Buttercup Rae into his home.

We are SO excited for you, Buttercup Rae, and we just know you’ll have the best life.
