From City Streets to Therapy Dog: Yukon Gold's Story

Four-year-old Yukon Gold was found wandering around Baltimore City in January. Despite the cold weather, this sweet pup seemed to be in good spirits; he eagerly greeted his rescuer and seemed ready for whatever was next.

What was next was a stop at BARCS. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for Yukon Gold to be adopted by a new family… and that’s when his adventure begins.

Yukon Gold, now named Lushka, is deeply loved in his home. Lushka has proudly worn his BARCS harness on a beach in South Carolina, historic town in North Carolina, the woods of Tennessee, a farm in New Hampshire, as well as historic towns and forests all over the mid-Atlantic. Lushka has even helped his parents rescue a newborn kitten from a rest stop in New Jersey!

Impressively, Lushka earned his certification as a therapy dog with an organization known as Pets on Wheels. This pup now visits hospitals, assisted care facilities, schools, and events to provide comfort to people in need. Lushka loves meeting new people and getting lots of pets.

Keep up the great work, Lushka, and have the best life! <3
