Ike's Happy Tail

Dear BARCS,

We adopted Ike, our now eight-year-old American Bulldog, from BARCS last fall. When we met Ike, we fell in love with his huge head and calm disposition. Watching Ike go from emaciated shelter dog who didn't know how to dog to the confident, sweet, hippo-esque breed ambassador he has become has been the most rewarding experience. He's always ready for nap, but we were most surprised by his love of adventure despite his age. The potential for a bike ride causes instant zoomies--it's his favorite activity! He's still learning how to swim and camping is acceptable only if we leave the light on since he's afraid of the dark. We're in constant awe at his ability to trust, learn and love despite having been found as stray twice. Everyone thinks they have the best dog and everyone is right. We want to be the people he thinks we are and we're so proud of him.

This year, BARCS is dedicating Giving Tuesday donations to our Love Lasts Forever Program, which supports the care of homeless senior animals and sponsors their adoption fees in order to shorten their stay at the shelter and find them loving homes.

To kickoff Giving Tuesday, the Nancy Sherertz Family Foundation has pledged to match all donations dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 from now through Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Give today or tomorrow to take part in the match and help save senior animals!
