Thank You, Maddie's Fund!
Several months ago, BARCS was awarded a generous $50,000 grant from Maddie's Fund, a national family foundation established by Dave and Cheryl Duffield to revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals, to help support our mission to keep families together.
Specifically, pet owners in Baltimore City can access pet support services to ensure that pets stay where they belong: in their home.
Over the course of six months, BARCS was able to provide…
- Behavior and training classes and resources for 169 animals
- Critical medical care for 42 animals in need
- Housing assistance, including waived redemption and boarding fees, for 74 animals
- Reunions for 93 lost pets
- Pet food and other essential supplies for 43 families in need
As a Tier 1 shelter in the Human Animal Support Services shelter project, BARCS firmly believes that pets with families who love them should not find themselves homeless when resources and solutions exist to help them. Our vision for the future is to continue to grow and support programs that get lost pets home quickly, help pet owners who are struggling to meet their pets’ needs, and preserve families, leaving the kennels in our shelter reserved for only those pets who truly need to be here
