Monthly Donations

Every month, BARCS takes in nearly 1,000 homeless, neglected and abused animals. Each and every one needs a special guardian who has pledged to donate for their care. When you sign up as a Constant Companion and make a recurring monthly gift throughout the year, you truly are a lifesaver. You’ll ensure we have the resources to give every animal food, shelter, medical care and the loving home they deserve.

What Your Monthly Gift Makes Possible

Your gifts will be used to fund important programs and services:

• You’ll save the lives of more than 12,000 animals this year.
• You'll help fund the costs to spay/neuter more than 6,000 animals a year and lower the over-population of unwanted litters of dogs and cats.
• You’ll promote the humane treatment of animals, prevent cruelty to animals and provide resources to community pet owners in crisis.
• You’ll provide essential low cost pet services to members of our community and help us decrease the number of homeless animals by keeping pets in the homes of the families that love them.

 

How Your Monthly Gift Impacts Animals in Need

• $10 per month provides 10 meals to animals in our shelter
• $25 per month provides vaccines and a flea treatment for one abandoned or stray animal
• $50 per month supports special testing for a senior animal
• $100 per month provides care and nutrition to a litter of motherless kittens

 

How It Works

Monthly giving is a convenient and efficient way to support the animals and programs at BARCS.

It's easy to sign up! On our online donation form, select "Monthly Gift" on the donation frequency option.

Make payments automatically by credit or debit card. Change the amount, date or payment method of your monthly donation whenever you like, and you can cancel at any time.

Our Wish List

Caring for our animals requires a lot of time, love, money and supplies. Listed below is BARCS' “Wish List” of supplies needed. You can also donate items from our Amazon Wish List. If you donate an item through Amazon, please let us know (Amazon sends it to us anonymously) so that we can properly acknowledge your contribution by emailing your full name, address and item purchased to mmccomas@barcsanimalshelter.org

Donating wish list items helps us with the day-to-day care of our animals and supports our operational needs.

Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

• British slip leads (leash-type)
• Kitten nursing bottles

• Kuranda dog beds: if you would like to allow one more homeless dog to sleep in comfort, please donate a bed at our special wholesale price

Leaders of the Pack

In 2016, BARCS introduced a new major donors circle, the Leaders of the Pack. This special group is for people who understand that they aren’t just providing support—they are saving lives. BARCS’ Leaders of the Pack contribute $1,000 or more annually to help us continue our work finding homes for Baltimore’s homeless pets. Through their donations, Leaders of the Pack members provide the critical resources necessary to support and expand BARCS’ programs, allowing us to save more lives each year. These critical funds have an extraordinary impact on our work.

More Ways to Give

BARCS has so many wonderful animals that need new homes. Even a small donation will make a BIG difference! Donations large and small can help a young puppy that needs special medication or help a cat in pain get the immediate care that it needs to get adopted. If you would like to make a donation to BARCS, you can do so in a variety of ways:

 

Donate Online

Visit our secure, online donation page to send your gift quickly and directly to the animals. You can choose to make a one time gift or support us monthly through our Contact Companions program.

 

Donate by Mail

You can mail a check made payable to "BARCS" to 301 Stockholm Street, Baltimore, MD 21230. Please fill out the BARCS donation form and send it with your tax-deductible donation.

Matching Gifts

Did you know that many employers sponsor matching gift programs that match charitable contributions made by their employees? Some companies even match gifts made by retirees and spouses. By enrolling in your company’s matching gift program, your gift could be doubled and go that much further in helping support BARCS' mission.

Here are two ways to initiate your matching gift:

Memorial or Tribute Donation

To make a donation in memory of a person or pet, please fill out the Memorial or Tribute Form and mail it to Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter, Inc., (BARCS), 301 Stockholm Street, Baltimore, MD 21230. Or when making a donation online, fill out the "Dedicate Your Gift" section and indicate the occasion.

 

In Lieu of Flowers (for Funerals or Memorials)

Suggested text to use for memorials:
“In lieu of flowers, the family of ______________________ requests your consideration in donating to Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter, Inc., (BARCS), 301 Stockholm Street, Baltimore, MD 21230. In memory of ______________________.”

 

In Lieu of Wedding Favors

Getting married? Think of donating to BARCS for your wedding favors. Suggested text: “In honor of this special day, a gift has been made on behalf of all of our wonderful supportive family and friends gathered here today and those with us in spirit to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. (BARCS).”

 

Bequests and Planned Gifts

Support BARCS with a planned gift. You may benefit from income and capital gains tax savings when you establish a planned gift. Donors can also direct their insurance plans, retirement funds and IRAs in support of BARCS. This designation often allows the donor to make a considerable legacy gift. Careful planning is necessary for the use of IRAs and other retirement plans to fund charitable gifts, so please contact your tax advisor. BARCS Custom License Plate

Show your support for BARCS by purchasing a custom BARCS license plate. They are $75 each, and $50 from each plate goes to BARCS to care for the animals. Just send a check for $75 made out to BARCS to: BARCS License Plate Program, 301 Stockholm Street, Baltimore, MD 21230. You will receive an application in the mail, which should be completed and returned to the above address. You will then receive your new plate in 6-8 weeks. Please make sure you include your address if the address on your check is not current.
