Tribute giving is a way to recognize, honor and celebrate people and events that are important to you by giving back to others. You can provide food, shelter, comfort and hope to animals that need it most. Here at BARCS, there are several ways to dedicate your donation:

 

 

Individual Donation in Memory

Cherish the memory of a special person or pet by giving a gift in their memory. When you donate on our website to any fund or project, the option to dedicate your gift will appear on the giving form. Here you can input your honoree's email address and they will immediately receive notification of your gift.

In order to cut administrative spending costs and give more money directly to animal care, BARCS will no longer be sending paper notifications to honorees when gifts are made online. Paper letter notifications are only sent when a gift is made via mail by check. Customize your donation:

Set Up Your Own Tribute Fundraising Page

Set up your own Tribute Fundraising Page to encourage others to mark a milestone with you. Make a page to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, wedding, graduation or another special occasion or create a page in memoriam of someone who has passed by encouraging a gift to BARCS in lieu of flowers.

Facebook Fundraisers

Facebook's fundraiser tool makes it easy to set up a page in honor, memory or celebration of a special person or pet. BARCS is a registered nonprofit on Facebook, which means that we receive 100% of donations made to our organization. You can set up your own Facebook fundraiser to support BARCS at https://www.facebook.com/BARCSbaltimore/fundraisers/

**Please note: BARCS Tribute Fundraising Pages (mentioned above) are hosted on our website but also connect directly to Facebook. You will be prompted to make this connection during the setup process. We highly suggest that supporters use this function as it allows your friends and family without Facebook to still donate to your page.

 

 

Tribute Gifts Made by Mail

In order to cut administrative spending costs and give more money directly to animal care, BARCS will no longer be sending paper notifications to honorees when gifts are made online. Paper letter notifications are only sent when a gift is made via mail by check and must include the honoree's name and full mailing address plus the occasion (honor, memory, celebration, etc). Paper letters are sent 7-10 business days after we receive your gift.

Bequests and Planned Gifts

Support BARCS with a planned gift. You may benefit from income and capital gains tax savings when you establish a planned gift. Donors can also direct their insurance plans, retirement funds and IRAs in support of BARCS. This designation often allows the donor to make a considerable legacy gift. Careful planning is necessary for the use of IRAs and other retirement plans to fund charitable gifts, so please contact your tax advisor.
