Waiving Adoptions, driving hearts!

Did you know that, here at BARCS, every Wednesday features fee-waived adoptions? It's our way of simplifying the process for families to find their perfect furry companions. While it's not the sole reason people adopt, it often provides the extra push they need, motivating those already considering adoption. And trust us, it's all about finding loving homes for our animals, and it helps us achieve just that!

Fame, now known as Wrangler, found his own loving home and embarked on a healing journey with his family. Today, we share a Happy Tail that began on a day like this:

“This is Wrangler, formerly known as Fame. I brought this handsome pup home 5 years ago. Adopting him may have saved him, but he has definitely saved my family and me. When I adopted Wrangler, we had just lost our family dog, Gator, and my parents decided they did not want to get another dog. I had started looking for my first dog of my own. I went to multiple places but had not found 'the right fit'.

“I went to BARCS with my dad during an adoption weekend when they were waiving adoption fees due to crowding. Wrangler was one of the first dogs we saw, but my parents were concerned about adopting a male dog, so we initially passed him over. After visiting a few other shelters, I was ready to give up. We returned to BARCS with the thought that he was the dog that had stood out the most to me. Luckily, he was still there. I submitted an application for him right on the spot, and not a minute too soon, as another family had put in an application for him right behind me.

“Five years later, he has become the best addition to the family. He enjoys his 'grandpa's' heated blanket, car rides to our boat, chasing bugs (lizards) that hide in the garden, and protecting our yard from the buzzards that glide over 'his' yard.

“Thank you, BARCS, for connecting me with my best friend. Both my mother and I suffer from depression and have experienced great loss since he's been a part of our family, and he's made every transition easier. I could not ask for a better companion.”

To Wrangler's family: thank you for welcoming him into your family! And to you, the reader, you can help find loving homes for BARCS’ shelter animals by sharing this post and spreading the word on adoptions!
