Meet the Sniffle Squad!
It’s snot that big of a deal… but finding them a home is.
Starting today, BARCS is introducing a new ongoing waived-fee adoption promo for all dogs and cats with respiratory infections—our “Sniffle Squad.” These pets may be feeling a little under the weather, but what they need most to feel better is a home.
Typical symptoms include sneezing, runny noses, watery eyes and feeling tired—are a lot like the common cold in humans. These animals are already receiving care and are ready for adoption, just like any other pet. And one of them might just be your new best friend who’s ahh-choo-sen you!
Sadly, pets with respiratory infections tend to stay in our shelter three times longer than healthy animals. The longer they’re here, the greater their risk for worsening illness or stress-related decline. By adopting from the Sniffle Squad, you’re not only helping them heal—you’re saving lives.
Every BARCS adopter (Sniffle Squad included!) receives 30 days of free pet health insurance and a $250 credit to a local VCA Animal Hospital to help with initial care.
Come meet the Sniffle Squad today and be part of their healing journey. Because the fastest path to feeling better starts with a home.

Support the Sniffle Squad: Adoption fees are waived for BARCS' “Sniffle Squad” to help them find homes faster and ease the additional commitment from their new families. But while these animals may go home with waived fees, they cost significantly more for our shelter to care for. They require medications, recheck exams, extra attention from our veterinary team, and often have extended stays. Your donation to BARCS’ Medical Care Fund helps offset those increased costs, ensuring these animals get the treatment they need while they wait for loving homes.
Give Them a Break: You can make a huge difference in a Sniffle Squad animal’s recovery, even if you’re not ready to adopt. Fostering a “Sniffle Squad” dog or cat, gives them a break from the shelter environment. This helps reduce stress and boost healing, by giving these sweet friends the comfort and calm they need to get better faster. https://www.barcs.org/foster
